Marketing Is Not What You Think It Is

Marketing, many people claim to know thee; yet truthfully they know not  the beauty that lies under your many layers of character.

Marketing is not about colors, Colors chosen at random for badges, ads and websites.

Marketing is not about press releases, Press releases issued thoughtlessly to promote products and services.

Marketing is not about slogans, Slogans created simply because everyone else is using one.
Marketing is not about calls to action, CTAs made in wild hopes of producing boundless sales.

Marketing is not about giveaways, Giveaways promoted to fish for meager leads.

Marketing is not about catalogues, Catalogues imprinted time and again with the same statements.

Marketing is not about events, Events hosted with no specific goals or set objectives.

Marketing is not about an email blast, An email copied, pasted and resent, hoping for the best.

Marketing is not about directories, Directories distributed too widely to expect results.

Marketing is not about the sales pitch, The pitch intended to push messages, drive transactions and repeat, endlessly.

Marketing is, however, a combination of all the above — and much more,  supported by market research and guided by thoughtful strategies.

What is marketing in your business?
